AFRICA CLIMATE SUMMIT 2023

The CWP Ltd. provided strategic communications leadership for the inaugural Africa Climate Summit on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), supporting high-level visibility, media coordination, and stakeholder engagement for one of the continent’s largest climate convenings. Working in collaboration with government counterparts, event partners, and media stakeholders, Carol led the communications function to ensure cohesive messaging, strong global reach, and effective real-time information flow throughout the summit.

The summit convened approximately 30,000 attendees and generated significant international attention, requiring a communications approach capable of managing scale, complexity, and high-level stakeholder visibility. The work focused on amplifying key climate narratives, supporting principal speakers, and ensuring consistent messaging across press, digital platforms, and live event coverage.

The scope of work included:

· Strategic oversight of summit communications and media visibility
· Coordination of media awareness campaigns across print, broadcast, and digital platforms
· Management of social media content production and real-time communications
· Oversight of videography, photography, and live streaming across plenaries and side events
· Support for accreditation and coordination of over 1,200 attending journalists
· Liaison role with the Ministry of Environment, facilitating interviews for principals and senior officials
· Development of news articles and opinion editorials distributed across major media outlets

The summit achieved extensive visibility, generating more than 2,000 news articles across print, online, television, and radio platforms — reflecting both the scale of the event and the effectiveness of its communications strategy.

The engagement demonstrated The CWP Ltd.’s strength in managing large-scale, high-profile communications initiatives where public policy, international stakeholders, and media attention converge. From message development to live execution, the work highlighted the importance of precision, coordination, and narrative discipline in ensuring that complex global convenings translate into clear public understanding and sustained visibility.

Beyond event delivery, the approach reflected a broader strategic communications philosophy: that major global gatherings are not only logistical milestones, but narrative platforms capable of shaping policy conversations, public perception, and long-term institutional credibility.
